Rangers Preview – Young Dons Get Their Chance

Ahead of Sundays SWPL clash we spoke to head coach Stefan Laird to get his thoughts on the run up to the fixture.

“We are really looking forward to Sunday’s game. It’s been a good couple of weeks since we made move into 1st Team. The players have worked really hard. We are happy with the squad and spirits are high.
We have a couple of injuries and absentees ahead of the game on Sunday and 6 Under 20s are going to come in and join the squad. This shows our work at 20s is paying off and its an opportunity for them to stake a claim, if selected in match squad of course.”

“We are all looking to Sunday now. Rangers Aberdeen games are always an exciting occasion, its a fixture we as players and staff relish.

“Everybody has their own views about how the game is played. Changes will be made slowly, the players are enjoying it and it will be an attacking formation and philosophy. The players have responded really well in training and there has been smiling faces.”

“There is no doubt that we will be going down to Rangers to try and win the game. I think if everybody is honest Aberdeen have not performed as we would have liked so far this season but neither have Rangers so it’s going to be a very competitive game and we’re prepared for that but we’re going down there in buoyant mood.
We’re going down to attack and I’m sure it’ll be a good spectacle for anyone who goes along to watch. Rangers are a good side and both teams will be going to try and win the game, there is no doubt about that.

“I would like to thank the club for making it an easy transition from Under 20s to 1st team and we are looking forward to Sunday.”
