Aberdeen FC Ladies would like to announce a change of management and coaching of their first team, as of the 1st July 2016 Allan Smith (Head Coach) and Vicki Paterson (Assistant Coach) stepped down. Aberdeen FC Ladies would like to put on record our thanks to Allan Smith and Vicki Paterson for their commitment and professionalism over the last 3 ½ years and wish them every success in the future.
AFCL are delighted to announce that the new management team will be Stefan Laird (Head Coach), Kevin Buchan (Assistant Coach) and Kevin Stewart (1st Team Coach). All previously were involved in the clubs under 20s with Kevin Stewart formally goalkeeping coach now working closely alongside Stefan and Kevin Buchan as assistant coach. Their management team will also be enhanced with current coaches David Knox being retained as Goalkeeping Coach and also welcome on board Vaneta Fernandes as team physiotherapist and Ian McEwan as Strength and Conditioning Coach.
The committee believe the young talented coaches will bring a new fresh dynamic and ambitious approach to the 1st team. The contract length is for 2 ½ years with option for a further 12 months and the committee is delighted that they have all accepted their positions with the Premier Set up and are looking forward to working closely with them to achieve the club’s goals.
Stefan told us “I am delighted to make the transition from our 20s to take charge of the first team. We have a young exciting squad with tremendous quality and an exceptional work ethic. I look forward to leading the club forward in this exciting new phase of development. We look forward to the second half the season to improve on our current position and make significant progress that will carry us into next season. I thank the club for giving me the opportunity to implement my ideas and philosophy.”
Furthermore, Laura Westland will remain within the under 20 set up alongside the incoming Harley Hamdani and they will both work closely with the 1st team with a forward thinking integrated approach.
