New Don for Top Scorer Sarah

Aberdeen FC Ladies are delighted to confirm the signing of Sarah Main from Inverness City.

The versatile left sided player, who was Inverness’ top scorer last term, had been identified as a key target by Dons Manager Allan Smith, and he was delighted when the 24 year old agreed to make the switch along the A96.

Sarah started her career with the youth teams at her local Elgin club, experiencing senior football with them briefly at the age of fourteen, before moving to Inverness City who, at that point in time, languished in the bottom tier of the Scottish Leagues. Ten years of progress saw the Highland side gain SWPL status – something Sarah continues to be proud of

“It was a very difficult decision to leave Inverness after all those years, particularly as so many of the squad played together for so long.”
“I work in Aberdeen daily, so when the offer was made to potentially make the move to Aberdeen, it made sense to give it some consideration. Now that pre-season has started there is no doubt we have a great squad here at Aberdeen and I am really looking forward to the forthcoming season.”

Manager Allan Smith added, “Sarah has always impressed us at Aberdeen, she is technically very good and has a great appetite for the game. She will not only provide strength and power down the left hand side, she scores goals from midfield and that was something we were very keen to add to the squad.”
